Changzhou holding the 1st Plum Blossom Festival
Between March 24 and 31, Changzhou will host the First Plum Blossom Festival. The Weidun Park, originally had 300 plum trees, last year imported more than 600 trees of Bi Tao (Prunus persica (L.) Batsch f. ru bra-plena Schneid), Shouxing Tao (Var.densa Makino) and Ziye Tao (Prunus persica f. Atropurpurea) from Rugao, and now has become the largest plum park in Changzhou with the most complete varieties. Currently, about 40% of the plum trees are already in bloom, which will continue blooming till the beginning of April.
During the Festival, a series of cultural experience activities, such as the Science Panels of Weidun Culture, the dance program ‘Blessing’ representing the ritual culture of Weidun, and the Museum of Weidun Ruins. The public will be able to learn more about the culture of Weidun while enjoying beautiful plum blossoms.
